Project Governance for Strategic Planning and Project Success: The 20 Best Project Management Strategy Podcasts For Governance

Let's go!

1. Modern Project Leadership: Creating Value Beyond Delivery

Project leaders are being asked to do more than deliver on time and on budget. They need to understand business strategy, connect teams to measurable value, adapt when conditions change, and use judgment when the plan no longer fits the moment. How can project leaders make better trade-offs when priorities compete? When should established processes or governance approaches bend in pursuit of business value? And how can they build alignment and influence when authority is distributed across stakeholders and teams? We discuss this with Tyler Norman, MBA, PMP, PgMP, PfMP, director of strategic supply chain programs at Scholastic, and Adeola Jeremiah, PMP, head of PMO at VistaVu Solutions.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How project leaders can connect project decisions to business strategy and value
  • When to adapt the plan or governance approach as conditions change
  • How to use context, consequences and trade-offs to make stronger judgment calls
  • How to define project success beyond scope, schedule and cost
  • How to build stakeholder alignment and influence without direct authority

16. The Building Blocks of the Modern Data Platform with Micha Hershman

This episode features an interview with Micha Hershman, VP of marketing at Envoy. Envoy is transforming modern workplaces with products that make office life easier and work more meaningful. Micha is a marketing leader with a twenty-year history of integrating inbound and outbound demand generation strategies to drive growth and revenue at B2B SaaS and B2C organizations.

On this episode, Micha shares his insights into the building blocks of the modern data platform, why your website is the single most important conversion tool that B2B organizations have, and why the bottom line of marketing is about customer experience.

“I think platform data is something that everyone needs to leverage. And if you’re a marketer thinking like, “Hey I’m considering joining this new company,” the questions you need to ask yourself, and there are lots of them, is do they have platform data that helps me tell a story, and can I access it?” - Micha Hershman, VP of marketing at Envoy

17. Unlocking The Future: How To Use Data To Predict Your Customers Next Move

The future of customer strategy is providing proactive experiences based on the predicted needs of your customers. The key to unlocking this future is your customer data, particularly the data you have collected about customer behavior. You have most of what you need to predict your customers' next move in your customers' past behavior.

This concept is predicated on the idea of Customer Science. As you might recall, Customer Science is the blending of customer data with artificial intelligence and the theories of the behavioral sciences. Customer Science is the next big thing in Customer Experiences, and it is what you need to predict accurately how your customers are going to behave.

I am fascinated by how Customer Science is already changing experiences for the better in the real world. For example, at a recent CX Live Event, I heard Michelle Huenink, Director, Customer Experience & Success at Microsoft, speak about how the company was using their data to provide predictive—and in some cases—prescriptive experiences to their customers. In this episode, Huenink explains what she did, why she did it, and how you can get started doing the same for your organization.

Key Ideas to Improve your Customer Experience

A significant part of Huenink’s motivation is transforming Microsoft’s Customer Experience to a connected experience using customer data as the basis for its change. She wants to leverage the vast amounts of Microsoft’s customer data to identify moments that are sending an individual’s experience down the wrong path, as well as find parts of the process that necessitate too much customer effort. Then, she wants to empower the front-line teams to correct course and fix things for customers, sometimes even before the customer knows there is a problem.
