For beginners, it’s reading basic SEO guides from reputable professionals or listening to long-form videos on YouTube. But once you’ve worked in SEO for a couple of years and learned all the best practices, it gets harder to find new information on your craft.
Typically, very important niche SEO knowledge can’t be found on Google, and it’s not because the search engine is underperforming. It’s because that type of knowledge is shared on SEO podcasts.
Podcasts have two major advantages. First, they are very easy to digest. You can listen to one while driving to work, doing chores, or working out at the gym.

DoFollow has something for everyone. It features a wide range of topics, including specialized areas like AI and machine learning, international SEO approaches, and recession risk management. As you might have guessed from the name of the podcast, the host of the show is the Search Engine Journal, one of the most popular blogs about SEO and marketing. The podcast has been around for quite a while, and by this time, its host Loren Baker has talked to over 300 people.
Podcast episodes are in conversational form with a single SEO expert. The themes Loren Baker covers with his hosts range from niche technical tips like creating custom user experiences to general topics like the role of creativity in SEO.

Experts On The Wire is a podcast run by the small, US-based consultancy firm Evolving SEO. The host, the agency’s lead consultant Dan Shure, talks to SEO and marketing experts to give listeners insight into the craft.
The podcast isn’t produced as regularly as some listeners would want — in the last couple of years there have only been a few episodes per quarter. Although Experts On The Wire isn’t a weekly podcast, you may still want to subscribe and tune in when a new episode is live.
Dan Shure had the likes of John Mueller and Rand Fishkin on the podcast, so the quality of tips you may get from a new episode is superb.
This podcast is hosted by Aleyda Solis, who is an SEO consultant, speaker, and highly published author. She records short podcasts, around 30 minutes long, that feature two guests. The podcast comes out every month with very few exceptions.
Aleyda typically covers basic SEO topics like how to create content that earns backlinks or how to optimize your website for multilingual audiences. But given you have not one SEO expert on the show but three, these basic topics are covered in great detail.

Copyblogger itself is mainly focused on providing tips to copywriters on how to make money writing. The podcast covers similar topics, so not all episodes would be of great interest to SEO experts. Some are targeted towards copywriters.
You will get good tips from podcast guests who specialize in creating content for SEO and running newsletters.
Voices of Search has over a thousand episodes by now which came out with surprising frequency. Just in July of 2023, there were 21 episodes of the show. Granted, the episodes aren’t hour-long, they’re closer to 25 minutes on average, but the speed with which the podcast is produced is still stunning.
Voices of Search is hosted by 4ė, a brand development and marketing strategy consultant. He interviews a wide range of experts in the field of digital marketing, from experts in enterprise SEO to copywriting pros.
Webcology is co-hosted by two marketers, Jim Hedger and Kristine Schachinger (episodes prior to 2023 are co-hosted by Jim and Dave Davies). Jim, the founder of the podcast, has been in the digital marketing industry since 1996, and the expertise he has gained in the decades since has helped him deliver great insights to the listeners of the podcast.
Most episodes don’t have a guest, and Jim and Kristine discuss SEO-related topics on their own. When they do have a guest on, it’s typically a CEO or high-ranking SEO expert. Jim, Kristine, and their occasional guests cover SEO news and niche topics like the pitfalls of running an agency or intricate practical studies of Google Search Panel.
If you check out a few episodes and end up loving the hosts’ personalities, you can tune in to them discussing general world news as a part of the podcast.
The author of the podcast is Kate Toon, an SEO consultant who coaches beginner SEOs and ecommerce business owners and also sells SEO courses. She covers a wide range of topics that will come in handy if you’re new to search engine optimization, typically together with another SEO expert as a guest.
The only downside of this podcast is that it’s specifically tailored toward people who are just beginning their SEO journey. If you’re a seasoned professional looking for more in-depth tips or other pros sharing their opinions, this podcast may not be so interesting.

And learning more about your craft by listening to a podcast is the perfect way to educate yourself — it has more niche knowledge, it’s more entertaining than reading an article, and it’s faster than searching for answers to specific questions on online forums.
