The podcasting world is an interesting one, with a lot of fun, hard work, and creativity.

The aim of combining all of these elements is to get more listeners and get your podcast ratings to be useful to improve its rankings.

Podcast ratings are essential as it helps your podcast’s chance of being discovered. A podcast show with high ratings is more likely to be found by new people and see an increase in new listeners.

There are different ways to check for your podcast ratings. Everything involves checking on several platforms, but some platforms rate better than others. One of such platforms is Apple podcasts.

If your podcast ranks well on Apple podcasts, it is social proof that you are producing quality content.

Many newbie podcasters do not know how to find their podcast ratings. It is vital to understand and monitor your podcast ratings as this will help you know how well your audience enjoys your content and how to get better.

There are few ways to find your podcast ratings, and I have brought some of them to you in this post; this will exceptionally be of great use to newbie podcasters that do not know about podcast ratings.

HERE ARE FEW WAYS TO CHECK FOR YOUR PODCAST RATINGS

  1. Apple Podcasts

People rate Apple Podcasts highly; therefore, it is the platform I would advise you to consider the most. Your podcast rating on Apple Podcasts is one of three elements that affect how well people discover your podcast. These other two are the review and ranking. Don't forget about your ranking; check out one of our posts to find your podcast ranking.

These elements are all essential, and they work together to help your podcast be more discoverable. Let’s get into the difference.

A rating is how many stars listeners give your show out of five stars. For ratings to work well, you need a high number of listeners to rate your show.

A review is what listeners write about your podcast show. It affects how your podcast ranks overall,  but you also need a high number of listeners to be effective.

The ranking is where your show is on the table in its category. It affects your podcast visibility, and the top shows tend to get more listeners.

  1. Castbox

Castbox is a mobile app that also has a web player.  Castbox shows your podcast ratings and the number subscribers it has. You will also see the number of downloads your show gets.

Castbox helps you discover the average number of listens your show gets per subscriber. It would help if you had your downloads equal to the number of subscribers you have; this will help your rating.

  1. Chartable

Chartable is a beautiful website, and that's not all to it  as it is also beneficial. You can get a simple analysis of your show on the website. It does this by getting your show's reviews, ratings and ranking on Apple podcasts, before making it into a simple chart. Chartable also gets stats from Podcast Addict and Stitcher.

  1. Podcast Addict

Podcast Addict is an app for Android users. It is free and straightforward. It has a feature that indicates the number of subscribers you get from the app. However, it doesn't have a lot of users.

 APPLE PODCAST RATINGS

Podcasts with a good number of high ratings have a higher chance of being discovered on Apple Podcasts charts. Listeners often check the top podcasts in a category when they want to find new shows – this is the reason you need to get your listeners to rate your show highly, and you have to check for your ratings.

There are several ways to check for your Apple ratings.

  1. Check Your Ratings On Apple Charts In A Manual Way

Podcast shows with plenty of listeners can quickly check how well the show rates on Apple Podcasts’ charts through manual checking. To do this, you have to review the Top Podcasts section in your Apple Podcasts. Go through your country’s top podcasts and episodes chart. Expand the “All Categories” icon to see the subcategories. You will see your podcast ratings if it is ranked among the top 150 in its category.

  1. Check The Rating Using Chartable

Chartable is a tool that monitors and records podcast rankings on Apple podcasts for a period. You will find your podcast under its main category and subcategories.

Chartable displays your show’s ratings in the country and region you have selected. You then have to go under the main category and subcategories of your podcasts to see how well your show rates against others.

Chartable highlights your current ratings and signifies if it has performed better or worse from the last time. The green arrow shows improvement while the red arrow means it has dropped in rankings.

  1. Use Podcharts To See Your Apple Podcast Ratings

Podcharts operate like Chartable. It also shows you how well your show has performed over time. There are two ways of using Podcharts. The first is checking the charts to track how your show has performed in your region and the category is listed.

The second method is through creating an account on Podcharts and adding your podcast to your dashboard for monitoring. It makes it easier to check your podcast every time you want to.

HOW TO BOOST YOUR PODCAST RATINGS

Ratings are essential to how well your show ranks. If you want more listeners for your show, you have to get your ratings up. Here are five ways you can get your podcast ratings high on several platforms, especially on Apple Podcasts.

  1. Create Good Content

Good content will always get you to the top. Even if you do follow the best practices for promoting your show, if you don’t put out good content, it will have little effect. Listeners give good ratings to good content; they also recommend it to other listeners. As they do this, it will improve your rankings as the listens will keep increasing. Good content begets good ratings.

  1. Use Fitting Keywords

For example, when publishing an episode on Apple podcast, you can input up to twelve keywords – this is why you need to know the SEO friendly keywords to use. Research the best keywords and maximize them for your show’s visibility.

You can get the best keywords for your show category by browsing through websites designed for it. Uber suggests’ one of such websites where you can get the keywords you need.

  1. Encourage Your Listeners To Give A Good Rating To Your Show

You can put out good content for your listeners to enjoy and they forget to give your show good ratings. This is why you must always remind them to give your show good ratings if they enjoy your work. At the end of your show, remind them that their excellent ratings are your reward for the hard work you put in to bring them useful content.

  1. Give Good Titles To Your Episodes

If your show has the best content, with no easy discovery, you are missing out on good potential ratings. Listeners want to know what a show is about before they begin to listen. A good show with a poor title is like good food with insufficient packaging. Make your title short and easily discoverable in the search bar.

  1. Be Consistent With Your Show

Consistency is vital in everything, especially in podcasting. When your listeners are sure that they will get your show at a set time, they will trust you. Once they trust you, they will be willing to give your show a good rating.

Having a good rating for your show is good, but do not forget the main work which is producing good content. If you focus on putting out good content and promoting your show, you will get good ratings for your show. To improve your podcast ratings 2021, you need to start putting in the work right now.
